Royal Primary Care is accredited with training of Junior Doctors, GP training and Advanced Nurse Practitioners. We are very committed to produce excellent medical personal and imparting knowledge and training to our doctors and nurses
We may offer you an appointment with a GP registrar. These doctors are fully qualified and will have worked in several hospitals. They are completing their specialist training as a GP.
We also teach medical students and sometimes we may ask you to see the doctor or nurse with a student present. We will always ask you if this is acceptable. You may ask for the student to leave if you prefer to have your appointment in private.
GP registrars
A GP registrars, are fully qualified and registered medical doctor who have decided on a career in General Practice to become a GP. These are doctors who have worked in hospital , fully registered doctors on GMC list and are now learning to adapt their medical skills and knowledge to the General Practice environment. The GP training takes 3 years and some are part time which makes the training longer. These doctors are supervised by senior GP doctors or trainers everyday.
Foundation year Doctors (F2s)
These are doctors who have completed a medical degree and are taking the first 2 years of foundation training . These are divided into Foundation year 1 doctors and Foundation year 2 doctors. They rotate under various hospital rotations and only in their foundation year two they spend 4 months in GP practice. These doctors are always under supervision and appointed more time with patients compared with GPs. The vast experience they gain during their foundation years helps them to choose a career either in hospital or GP, what we call specialisation.
Advanced Nurse Practitioners trainees
ANPs trainees are qualified nurses with vast experience who are training to independently assess, diagnose and manage and care for patients .They work under supervision from senior GP and senior ANPs until they qualify.
